Fox Host Calls On Fox To Drop 2016 Candidates From Payroll

Fox Host Calls On Fox To Drop 2016 Candidates From Payroll:

Fox dropped Dr. Ben Carson as a contributor, which Kurtz said was a good call.

"This was a smart move by Fox because a guy who’s more or less running for president shouldn’t be on a network payroll," he said. "Which means Fox also faces a decision about former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who is openly weighing a White House bid as well."

It’s always nice to see actual journalism at FOX.

George Will Shocks Fox News Panel: Tell Child Refugees 'Welcome To America'

George Will Shocks Fox News Panel: Tell Child Refugees 'Welcome To America':

"We ought to say to these children, ‘Welcome to America, you’re going to go to school, and get a job, and become American,’" Will suggested. "We have 3,141 counties in this country. That would be 20 per county."

Will explained. “We’ve handled what [American poet] Emma Lazarus called the ‘wretched refuse of your teeming shore’ a long time ago, and a lot more people than this.”

I don’t alway agree with him, but he is right here. The idea that there exists some subset of people who can not become American is contrary to all the historical evidence. Those kids will make it.

Is Dr. Ben Carson unaware how women seeking abortions got pregnant?

Is Dr. Ben Carson unaware how women seeking abortions got pregnant?:

Newly hired Fox News contributor Dr. Ben Carson proposed on Friday to “re-educate the women” so that they would stop having abortions.

He added there was obviously not a “war on women” because men give up their seats to pregnant women.

Giving women a seat _voluntarily_ somehow trumps government actions that deny women autonomy over their bodies? This guy is nuts.

And we can’t let reality creep into the national debate.

One thing they understand very well at Fox, and in the conservative movement more generally, is the political value of shamelessness. As long as you say what you're saying with conviction, it doesn't matter how absurd or hypocritical it is. You may not get the majority of the public to agree with you, but you can get a good number. ... As a result, conservatives may not win every argument, but they almost never get routed completely.

Prominent Conservative Radio Hosts Planted Scripted Actors Among Callers

Some of the people who phone in to talk radio shows (that caller with the pitch-perfect rant, provocative comment or burning question) may actually be hired actors reading from scripts. I'm not an angry listener, but I play one on radio!

Via Tablet Magazine:

If [the actor] passed the audition, he would be invited periodically to call in to various talk shows and recite various scenarios that made for interesting radio. He would never be identified as an actor, and his scenarios would never be identified as fabricated-which they always were.

Not enough detail to be certain this is true, but I would not surprised. Snake oil salesmen have always needed shills in the crowd.

Brooklyn prosecutors clear local ACORN office

A four-month investigation by the Brooklyn district attorney found no evidence that the local ACORN office had engaged in any criminal conduct, despite the hype conservative media gave to tapes of a fake prostitute asking for help from the organization.

The whole ACORN Pimp story has been reviled as fraud, and the perpetrator of that fraud was caught trying to bug the office of US Senator. So where are the corrections? How much time has FOX spent on corrections to the story?

No evidence of illegal actions by ACORN

After media outlets and figures have repeatedly claimed that videos released by conservative activists James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles revealed a pattern of ACORN aiding efforts to evade taxes on a fictitious child-prostitution ring, an investigation by former Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harshbarger (D) found that “there is no evidence that action, illegal or otherwise, was taken by any ACORN employee on behalf of the videographers.” Indeed, an analysis of those incidents by Media Matters for America indicates that in at least six of the eight videos released, ACORN employees at those offices either were not clearly informed that underage prostitutes were involved, refused to help, appeared to deliberately respond with wildly over-the-top statements, or contacted the police after Giles and O’Keefe had left; moreover, ACORN employees at at least two of the offices advised Giles to file tax returns.
From Investigation confirms: No evidence of illegal actions by ACORN in videographer scam

I assume FOX will cover the results of the investigation just as much as they covered the initial ACORN story.

Are Congressional Democrats killing spirit of bipartisanship?

On the January 3 edition of Fox News Live, during a segment that featured Newsweek contributing editor Eleanor Clift and former Sen. Alfonse D’Amato (R-NY) discussing the Democrats’ “100 Hours” plan, the onscreen text read: “Are Congressional Democrats killing spirit of bipartisanship?” — referring to the Democrats’ reported intention of placing, as The New York Times reported, “limits on the ability of Republicans to offer alternatives” to their “100 Hours” legislative agenda.

Snow to Become New White House Press Secretary

Fox News commentator Tony Snow agreed last night to become White House press secretary after top officials assured him that he would be not just a spokesman but an active participant in administration policy debates, people familiar with the discussions said.
From WaPo

Gee, this is an odd choice. Does anyone really think that a Fox News reporter will be able to act as a mouthpiece for the administration?
